ISAKOS Global Traveling Fellowship
Purpose of the Award
The ISAKOS Global Traveling Fellowship is intended to foster the international exchange of knowledge and
skills in the field of sports orthopaedic surgery. Coordinated by the ISAKOS Traveling Fellowship Committee,
the fellowship will provide the opportunity for young orthopaedic surgeons from five regions to travel with
an ISAKOS Godfather to the region of the next ISAKOS Congress. Fellows will have the opportunity to observe
sports orthopaedic surgeries performed by highly respected surgeons, discuss the surgical procedures and
all aspects of patient management, and discuss and share research experience. At each center, each fellow
and the Godfather will be expected to present a short scientific paper from a list of three such papers
provided by each fellow.

Applicants must be proposed and recommended by a current ISAKOS Member (recommendation letter required).
The applicant should be 45 years of age or under, be able to speak English, have completed an orthopaedic
surgery residency and have a practice focusing on sports surgery. Applicants are required to submit a letter
of recommendation from an ISAKOS Member, their CV, and a 250-word statement explaining how they will use
the knowledge and skills gained from the fellowship.
For the 2023 fellowship, one applicant will be selected from each of the following five regions:
Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin America, Africa/Middle East and the region of the upcoming ISAKOS Congress (North America).
Applicants must be available to travel prior to, and to attend the Biennial ISAKOS Congress.
All applications must be submitted by June 30, 2022.
Applications will be reviewed and successful fellows will be selected by the ISAKOS Traveling Fellowship Committee.
The Fellowship will cover economy class air travel for the fellowship, including return from the ISAKOS Congress. Local hosts will cover accommodation, meals and local transportation costs. ISAKOS will waive registration fees for the ISAKOS Congress.
Fellows must document their travels, present a summary at the ISAKOS Congress, and write a report of the experience for publication in the ISAKOS Newsletter.
Note: Individuals are only permitted to receive one fellowship per Congress. ISAKOS fellowship recipients, if not already an ISAKOS Member, are required to become an ISAKOS Member prior to receiving their award. One year of Membership dues will waived.
