Types of Educational Opportunities:
Research projects, research facilities and resources, cadaver labs, publication opportunities, integration of the patient and public involvement, and the role of the fellow: 1. Research and development in mesenchymal stem cell-based drugs, scaffolds used for tissue engineering products, tissue-engineered cartilage, tissue-engineered meniscus, tissue-engineered ligaments and artificial ligaments, as well as tissue-engineered bone. Studies on the regulatory roles of nanomaterials, functional small molecules, microenvironment regulation, exosome and stem cells themself in tissue regeneration. Molecular mechanisms, intervention targets, bioinformatics characteristics, multi-omics, spatial Transcriptomics, single-cell sequencing and organoids researches related to mesenchymal stem cells and regenerative medicine.
2. Molecular classification, susceptibility genes, molecular mechanisms, and therapeutic targets of osteoarthritis. Research on stem cell therapy and stem cell delivery systems for the treatment of osteoarthritis. Also focus on the improving clinical guidelines and expert consensus in the Tsinghua University Tiantongyuan Residential Community Natural Population Cohort Study on Osteoarthritis. Multicenter RCT study on minimally invasive semi-personalized total knee replacement, multicenter study on personalized custom 3D-printed artificial knee joint prosthesis, and multicenter RCT study on the most minimally invasive personalized total knee replacement. Research on fully intelligent-assisted minimally invasive total knee replacement surgical robot.
3. Bionic anatomical reconstruction of anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments of the knee, especially in the precise positioning and accurate anatomical double-bundle reconstruction of ACL and PCL assisted by surgical robots for ACL double-bundle and all types of reconstructions. Development and Research on different graft for ACL and PCL,allograft, xenograft, as well as humanized xenograft, artificial ligament, and tissue engineered-ligament. Research on brain activation related to ligament injuries. Studies on returning to sports after ligament injury and post reconstruction. Research on susceptibility genes and genetic diagnosis for ligament ruptures.
4. Suture repair or reconstruction of the injured or resected knee meniscus. Research on meniscus allograft, xenograft, prothesis, humanized meniscus graft and tissue engineered-meniscus for total or partial meniscus transplantation. Research on meniscus regeneration post partial meniscectomy or total meniscectomy.
5. Osteochondral autograft, allograft, xenograft, or humanized osteochondral graft transplantation for knee articular cartilage and subchondral bones repair and reconstructions. Intraoperative real-time fresh osteochondral allograft transplantation between patients from two operations at the same time. Autologous stem cell transplantation for cartilage repair. Intraoperative in-situ biological 3D printing repair and reconstruction for articular cartilage and related osteochondral tissue.
6. Clinical and basic research on surgical indications for patellofemoral joint disorders of the knee. Research on new surgical techniques on minimally Invasive fully arthroscopic patellar dislocation surgery. Family genetic studies on patellar dislocation and its susceptibility genes investigation. Research on genetic diagnostic kits and new methods for patellofemoral disorders’ genetic diagnosis
7. Research on artificial intelligence general large model of the knee and its artificial intelligence-assisted vertical application agents for auxiliary diagnosis, decision-making in treatment, multimodal fusion of medical images, personalized medical device customization, preoperative planning, intraoperative navigation, robotic surgery, and postoperative remote intelligent rehabilitation for bone and joint injuries and diseases
