St. Johns medical college and hospital is a reputed teaching hospital for undergraduate, post graduate and super-speciality students in India. Our department offers adequate learning opportunity for interested students in field of sports injury. They will be trained to assist and learn primary and complex ligament surgery around the knee, shoulder, hip, ankle, wrist and elbow and also meniscus and cartilage work. They will be involved is academics of medical school and are encouraged to do clinical research. They also will get opportunity to attend sessions on cadaver learning and simulation models. Pitch side drills and ATLS is added attraction for the fellows. They will have to write a project and publish in an index journal. Fellows will have to attend state and national meeting in our field, present papers and partake in scientific deliberations. Overall by the time they finish the training in 18 months, the aim is to equip the fellow to be a good clinician to pick up sports injuries, understand the nuances of management and perform basic arthroscopy procedure of the knee and shoulder.
