Recent activity of Teaching Center: The knee and shoulder unit has received 4 fellows/year since 2000. Half of the applicants come from Colombian and the other half come from Latin American countries.

Role of the fellow with respect to Clinical, Surgical, Research, and other opportunities: There are currently 4 Knee and Shoulder fellows at the Valle del Lili Foundation with the academic support of the ICESI University. They actively participate in all clinical, surgical, research and training activities in musculoskeletal ultrasound and musculoskeletal radiology. Additionally, we have a significant number of visitors, for a time tailored according to the Orthopedist's request. If they are in our program for at least two months, they will participate as observers in all program activities and there is the possibility for them to be included in a research paper.

Research projects, research facilities and resources, cadaver labs, publication opportunities, integration of the patient and public involvement, and the role of the fellow: The Lili Valley Foundation has a Research Department that offers support in clinical epidemiology and sponsorship for any research work that comes out of the Knee and Shoulder Unit. Currently there are lines of research in knee and shoulder surgery, both arthroscopy and reconstructive, which include surgical techniques, preservative medicine, registries (The Register: Knee, Hip and Rotator Cuff) and validation of functional scales. The Fellow has the obligation to be involved in each of these works or lines of research and it is an absolute requirement that they make at least two publications during their year of training.
Related Conference/Lecture Schedule: 1. Knee and Shoulder Live Surgery Course (every year): 2 days of course with 20 live surgeries with the highest levels of complexity. 2. Review of topics every week 3. Review of complex clinical cases every week 4. Four weeks of visits to centers of excellence in arthroscopic and reconstructive surgery in Colombia or abroad 5. Keynote lecture with Guest Professor every month 6. Participation in the Courses of the Colombian Association of Arthroscopic and Reconstructive Surgery ACCART and the Colombian Society of Orthopedics SCCOT
