Andy Williams, MBBS, FRCS(Orth), FFSEM(UK)

Fortius Clinic
London UNITED KINGDOM

Andy undertakes all aspects of knee surgery: especially ligament reconstruction and sports injuries dealing with many UK sports teams including 75% of EPL soccer and rugby teams. He is a founder of Fortius Clinic, London. His research is prize-winning (over 100 publications and a lead editor of 39th Edition of Gray’s Anatomy). His study of knee motion employing weight-bearing, ‘dynamic’ MRI changed thinking in this field. Current research includes inflammatory response to knee injury, and biomechanics at Imperial College, London, where an anatomical study of the lateral soft tissue restraints aiding the ACL he co-authored was awarded the Trillat Prize at ISAKOS 2015. He was on the executive of The British Association for Surgery of The Knee. He sat on the Editorial Board of the Bone and Joint Journal and the ESSKA Sports Committee. He was named in the UK’s Top 100 Doctors by the Times newspaper in 2011. He was Hunterian Professor of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (2005), ABC Travelling Fellow (2002) and named in the UK’s Top 100 Doctors (The Times 2011). He has been accepted as a member of the Herodicus Society (2018).
