Summary
The method of arthroscopic PCL reconstruction using the transcondylar portal with preservation of the remnant PCL fibers and intact meniscofemoral ligaments can be simple and safe, provides adepuate exposure and accurate placement of the bone tunnels.
Abstract
Purpose
To introduce the arthroscopic posterior cruciate ligament (PCL)reconstruction using the transcondylar portal with preservation of the remnant PCL fibers and intact meniscofemoral ligaments and to evaluate the clinical results. Methods: 18 cases were treated with the autogenous hamstring tendon arthroscopically through the transcondylar portal with preservation of the remnant PCL fibers and intact meniscofemoral ligaments.Bone tunnels of the femur and the tibia were prepared with PCL reconstruction technique. hamstring tendons were fixed with Endo-button in the femur and Bio-Intrafix and Staple in the tibia.
Results
The operation time was45-92(64.16±13.15)min.No postoperative complications such as vascular injury ,nerve injury, infection, ligament rupture, limitation of motion occurred. All cases were followed up for 12-18(15.66±2.06)months,2 cases with Ⅰdegree of positive posterior drawer test,3 cases with postive Lachman test.Lyshlom knee score improved from a preoperative score of 19-46(31.56±8.82)to 87-97(92.55±3.42)points at 12 months postoperatively(P<0.01).
Conclusion
The method of arthroscopic PCL reconstruction using the transcondylar portal with preservation of the remnant PCL fibers and intact meniscofemoral ligaments can be simple and safe, provides adepuate exposure and accurate placement of the bone tunnels ,gives a satisfactory clinical results.
