Summary
The absorbable screw fixation is a good method for the treatment of patella fracture.
Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the clinical results of the treatment of dislocation of patella in adolescent patients with osteochondral fracture of patella. In this paper, we discuss the rapid healing of cartilage and the change of cartilage after the internal fixation of patella fracture.
Methods
Total of 12 patients with patellar dislocation combined with osteochondral fracture were treated with 2012~2015, aged 11~14 years old, the size of fracture block was 1~1.5 cm³,and the operation time was 3 days ~1 month after injury . Using arthroscopic debridement, release of the lateral retinaculum, the patella medial incision, fracture block with absorbable screw fixation, tight suture of medial retinaculum, brace external fixation 1 months postoperation, joint functional exercise, 6~12 weeks gradually loading, within 1 months postoperation.
Results
All cases were followed up for 1~1.5 years, the fracture healing was observed by CT, and the cartilage was observed by MRI. All fractures were healed, no significant degeneration of cartilage and joint function recovered well.
Conclusion
The absorbable screw fixation is a good method for the treatment of patella fracture.Long term efficacy needs further observation.
