Rony-Orijit Dey Hazra, MD, Dr.med.

Dr. Rony-Orijit Dey Hazra is a board-certified, German orthopedic and trauma surgeon. He received the prestigious AGA scholarship (German Society for Arthroscopic Surgery) for a 2021/2022 shoulder fellowship at the Steadman and Philippon Research Institute. His past year has been spent working under the tutelage of Dr. Peter Millett and Dr. Johnny Huard. Dr. Dey Hazra graduated from the medical school of Hanover in 2014. After medical school, he performed 12 months of research at the Tufts medical center in Boston, Massachusetts, where he studied the age-dependent effect of TGF-b on type II cells in mice lungs. He then returned to Europe to receive further medical and surgical training at the university hospital of Zurich and Lucerne. During this time, he completed a doctoral thesis on the comparison of different arthroscopic techniques for treating distal clavicle fractures. In 2020, Dr. Dey Hazra became a specialist in orthopedic and trauma surgery. Throughout his residency at the Friederikenstift in Hanover, Germany, he performed research under the supervision of Prof. Helmut Lill. He has continued to work with Prof. Lill to study specific surgical techniques for the shoulder and shoulder girdle after the completion of his residency program. Therefor, Dr. Dey Hazra’s primary research interests include reconstructive shoulder surgery, trauma surgery, and emergency medicine. Additionally, his research is focused on age-related effects on fractures and degenerative tendon diseases. Currently Dr. Dey Hazra is working at the Departments for Shoulder and Elbow Surgery Center for Musculoskeletal Surgery, Charité Universitaetsmedizin Berlin,Germany.
