Christopher D. Harner, MD, FAOA

Dr. Harner is a member of the editorial review boards for numerous orthopaedic, sports medicine, and scientific journals. He has served on the ISAKOS Executive Committee (2016-18) and is now Chair of the Journal of ISAKOS Board of Trustees. He also is currently serving as the AOA Presidential Line (2017-2021). Dr. Harner was AOSSM Board member from 2010 to 2015. It was during that time that he received the organization's highest honor by being named President in 2013. Additionally, he served as Herodicus President from 2013-2014. In 2000, Dr. Harner was appointed to an 11-year term on the Board of Directors of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS). In 1981, he earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan and went on to complete his orthopaedic residency at the University of Pittsburgh. He finished his sports medicine fellowship in Salt Lake City in 1987 and joined the faculty at the University of Pittsburgh later that same year. While in Pittsburgh, he was an Endowed Professor for 17 years. In 1990, he was selected as an ESSKA-AOSSM Sports Medicine Traveling Fellow to Europe and in May of 2018 he was appointed as the Godfather for the same ESSKA-AOSSM fellowship. He was recently elected into the AOSSM Hall of Fame in July 2019 in recognition of his lifetime achievements for leadership in Graduate Medical Education (GME) and Continuing Medical Education (CME).
