Dr. Danyal H. Nawabi is an Attending Orthopaedic Surgeon in the Sports Medicine Institute at the Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York, USA. He is also an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. Dr. Nawabi received his medical degree from the University of Oxford. He completed his orthopaedic residency on the Percival Pott Program in London where he was the recipient of the Sir Walter Mercer Gold Medal. He then completed three years of advanced fellowship training at HSS in total joint replacement and sports medicine, where he was a double recipient of the Philip D. Wilson Award for Excellence in Orthopaedic Surgery. He performs over 500 surgeries a year with special expertise in complex knee and hip reconstruction. He currently serves as team physician to the New York Red Bulls MLS franchise and medical director of the New York Cosmos Soccer Club. He is also an instructor on the FIFA Medical Network. Dr. Nawabi has authored over 100 peer-reviewed scientific publications and delivered over 200 presentations at international medical conferences. In 2020, he was the recipient of the Cabaud Memorial Award from the American Orthopaedic Society of Sports Medicine for his research in complex knee ligament surgery.
