PD Mag. Dr. Armin Runer is a sports medicine surgeon currently working at the Department for Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at the Technical University of Munich, Germany (Head: Prof. Dr. Sebastian Siebenlist). He was trained at the Department for Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery (Prof. Dr. Rohit Arora) of the Medical University of Innsbruck, the Department for Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at the Technical University of Munich, Germany (Head: Prof. Dr. Andreas Imhoff) and GelenkPunkt – Sports and Joint Surgery (Prof. Christian Fink, PD Dr. Christian Hoser). Dr. Runer completed a research fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh (Prof. Volker Musahl) and a clinical fellowship at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City (Max-Kade-Clinical-Fellowship). Dr. Runer’s research focuses on knee pathologies with emphasis on cartilage surgery, ACL reconstruction and treatment options for patella stabilization. He contributed to over 60 scientific articles focusing mainly on ACL surgery, knee instability and cartilage repair. He participated actively in numerous conferences and won several national and international awards, including the ISAKOS John J. Joyce Award for the best arthroscopy paper.
