Summary

Using double Lasso-Loop technique in the treatment of biceps tendon injuries by arthroscopy has advantages of strong fixation, little complication, less trauma and it’s worth promoting.

Abstract

Objective

To observe the efficacy of arthroscopic treatment of the long head of the biceps tendon injuries by double Lasso-Loop technique . Methods From January 2012 to October 2013, 19 patients with biceps tendon injuries were selected. Including 7 males and 12 females, age range 39~63 years (mean 49.7 years). All of them often complain of a ache in the anterior shoulder, which may worsen when repetitive overhead arm motion. We could found bicipital groove point tenderness. Yergason test, Speed test and DeAnquin test may help diagnosis. We perform biceps tenodesis with double Lasso-Loop technique by arthroscopy. After operation elbow flextion suspension and functional training last for 4-6 weeks. Constant scores is used to evaluate symptoms and functional improvement before and after one year of operation. Results All cases were followed for 12 months. The ache in the anterior shoulder has be alleviate obviously. Yergason test, Speed test and DeAnquin test of all the patients are negative. There are no Popeye malformation, elbow flexion weakness, fixed screw loosening and nor tendon rupture. The Constant scores from preoperative 40.1 ± 12 (24-54) improved to 79.7±7.4 points (67-92). There is a statistically significant difference between two groups (P < 0.05). Conclusion Using double Lasso-Loop technique in the treatment of biceps tendon injuries by arthroscopy has advantages of strong fixation, little complication, less trauma and it’s worth promoting.
