Abstract

Objective

To analyze the clinical results of arthroscopic treatment of posterior ankle impingement syndrome. Methods: From June, 2009 to December, 2011, 25 cases (16 males, 9 females) were included. The mean age was 37.6 years (23-47 years)., all cases were confirmed to be posterior ankle impingement syndrome by clinical examination, X-Ray and MRI. They selected arthroscopic operation after routine conservative treatment for 6 months was invalid. Two posterior-lateral approaches which was designed by ourselves were applied. According to the arthroscopic pathologic types, we selected different operations, such as arthroscopic synovectomy, removal of corpus liberum and decompression of the posterior tubercle of talus. The evaluation indexes include AOFAS score, X-Ray and MRI. Results: 23 patients were effective followed, the mean follow-up time was 14.2 months(5 ~ 26 months). Preoperative AOFAS score was 45.25 ± 4.50, postoperative score was 91.50 ± 5.25, the excellent and good rate was 93.5%. Postoperative pain of foot existed in 1 patients after strenuous exercises. Conclusion: The clinical curative effect of posterior ankle arthroscopy in the the treatment of posterior ankle impingement syndrome is good. Posterior ankle arthroscopy shoulder be recommended in the the treatment of posterior ankle impingement syndrome.
