PRESIDENTIAL MESSAGE
I was involved in the first combined congress of International Arthroscopy Association and International Knee society meeting in Rome, 1989 when I was a young staff member of Kobe University. I attended the combined congress in Hong Kong in 1995 and for all the past ISAKOS congresses.
I participated in a fellowship at
the Cleveland Clinic in the United States from 1983 to 1984, and
my primary mentor in ISAKOS has been John Bergfeld, MD, ISAKOS President 2005-2007. Dr. Bergfeld always emphasized the importance of international friendship and
the international exchange of the knowledge. My view on many issues has been changed quite dramatically by knowing people and exchanging ideas directly.

2013 – 2015
ISAKOS still is a young society at only 20 years old. During my presidential term, it was my goal to reach out to young surgeons to help them realize their full potential, both within their own practices, and with ISAKOS. One of the greatest opportunities during my presidential term, was the creation of the new Journal of ISAKOS. We
are very excited about the 2016 launch of the Journal of ISAKOS, particularly with Dr. Niek Van Dijk of the Netherlands as the founding Editor in Chief. I am sure that JISAKOS will be a truly international, high quality journal in the near future and I am looking forward to its development and expansion.
During my presidential term, ISAKOS also established a more formalized collaboration with Fédération
Internationale de Football Association (FIFA). FIFA represents more countries than the United Nations, so this collaboration surely will make ISAKOS grow more internationally.
It was my great honor to serve as
a president from 2013 to 2015
and I truly appreciate all committee members, the Board of Directors, and the Executive Committee members. Lastly, the ISAKOS Office has done an exceptional job to support me
as president and I really express my sincere gratitude to all of them.
