Catherine Bacon completed undergraduate degrees at the University of Otago, an MSc at the University of British Columbia, and PhD at the University of Auckland in vitamin D assessment and supplementation. She has worked in New Zealand, Canada and the UK, has authored publications in vitamin D, exercise and manual therapy, hip arthroscopy and supervised over 40 postgraduate students in a range of projects in the physical rehabilitation area. Her current research encompasses clinical outcomes following hip arthroscopy and exercise and physical rehabilitation in the prevention of, and recovery from musculoskeletal illness and injury. Catherine holds a joint position in the School of Nursing at the University of Auckland and as a Research and Data Manager for a private orthopaedic surgeon. Catherine competed in hurdling and middle distance running at national level for 20 years, and continues to maintain a regular exercise regime, occasionally competing in age-group and masters track and field or multi-sport events.
