ISAKOS advances the worldwide exchange and dissemination of education, research and patient care in arthroscopy, knee surgery and orthopaedic sports medicine.

If you are a member in good standing in one of the following societies, you can qualify for immediate associate membership

  • The American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM)
  • The Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA)
  • The Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (APOSSM)
  • The Knee and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Section of the Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association (APOA)
  • The European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery, and Arthroscopy (ESSKA)
  • The Latin American Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery, and Sports Medicine (SLARD)

MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES

Your completed application will be considered for placement in one of two primary membership categories:

Associate Membership - Individuals who demonstrate interest or ability in the fields of medicine or science and who have demonstrated an interest in arthroscopy, knee surgery, and orthopaedic sports medicine shall be eligible. All associate members, except those who belong to AANA, receive a subscription to the journal Arthroscopy: The Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery. Associate members are not entitled to vote and are not eligible to hold office.

Active Membership - Medical doctors qualified as orthopedists, musculoskeletal surgeons, rheumatologists or the equivalent, from all countries who are in good medical standing in their national/regional society as determined by a membership committee of the society. All active members, except those who belong to AANA, receive a subscription to the journal Arthroscopy: The Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery. Active members are entitled to vote at all meetings of the membership and are eligible to hold office in the society. APPLICANTS MUST ATTEND/HAVE ATTENDED AN ISAKOS CONGRESS TO QUALIFY FOR ACTIVE MEMBERSHIP.

HOW TO APPLY FOR ISAKOS MEMBERSHIP

Become a member in only six weeks! Please detach the following form and fill it out completely. DO NOT ATTACH A CV FOR REFERENCE.

Associate Membership is awarded within six weeks of receipt of a completed membership application. To be considered for immediate associate membership, you must supply:

  • Sections I, II, III, V and VI complete and legible;
  • Sponsor Form (Section IVA) completed by an Active ISAKOS member in your area* (unless you are a member of one of the regional societies listed above); and
  • $275 US dues payment.** (Payment MUST accompany your application!)

Unless otherwise indicated, applications for associate membership will automatically be forwarded for active consideration at the next committee meeting.
* If no active ISAKOS member resides in applicant's area, a letter of good standing from one of the regional societies listed will suffice.
** AANA members pay only $200.00 in annual ISAKOS dues, as they will continue to receive the journal subscription through their AANA membership.

Active Membership is only awarded pending an application review at a meeting of the Membership Committee. The Membership Committee meets at all annual AAOS meetings and at ISAKOS congresses. Active application reviews will take place at all AAOS Annual Meetings and all ISAKOS biennial Congresses. To be awarded active membership status, you must have attended at least one ISAKOS congress. To be considered for active membership, regardless of membership in a regional society, you must supply the following:

  • Sections I, II, III, V and VI complete and legible;
  • Sponsor Form (Section IVA) completed by an active ISAKOS member in your area* (it is highly recommended that you also submit a second Sponsor Form (Section IVB) if applying for Active Membership); and
  • $275 US dues payment.**
    (Payment MUST accompany your application!)
