Summary

Pigmented villonodular synovitis(PVNS)affected shoulder is relatively rare.The combination of a diffuse PVNS and a rotator cuff tear in a 65-year-old woman is described.

Abstract

Purpose

The purpose of this case report was to perform a three years treatment result that applied arthroscopic synovectomy and rotator cuff repairment and external adjuvant radiotherapy.
Metheds: The patient was underwent a treatment of total arthroscopic synovectomy and rotator cuff tear repairment and a external adjuvant radiotherapy in three months later. The Radiation dose was 20Gy which was divided ten times.

Results

The UCLA score ranges from 10 preoperation to 31 postoperation 10 months later, and to 35 after 18 months.

Conclusion

The treatmen of arthroscopic synovectomy and rotator cuff tear repairment and assisted external adjuvant radiotherapy to the shoulder PVNS with rotaor cuff tear has an excellent shoulder function and no recurrence.
