Abstract

Purpose

To assess the effectiveness of treatment of Bankart repair under arthroscope to recurrent anterior shoulder joint instability. Methods From February 2010 to February 2015, 63 patients with recurrent anterior shoulder dislocation under arthroscipic Bankart repair, and 52 patients (27 male,25 female)were available for follow-up.The mean age at the time of surgery was(20.9±1.6)years(range, 16~38).All of the 63 patients underwent surgical treatments, and the effectiveness was evaluated with University of California at Los Angeles(UCLA) and Rowe score system. results The Rowe scores improved to (89±19)postoperatively (p<0.05). The UCLA scores improved significantly to (33.2±0.5) postoperatively (p<0.05). The satisfactory rate after the Bankart repair under arthroscope was More than 89%,3patients(5.7%) suffersd a recurrence after surgery. Other factors including patient age, length of the time until the surgery, preoperative dislocation frequency, joint laxity and reset method did not influence the effectiveness. Conclusions This study suggests that Arthroscopic Bankart repair can significantly improve the Postoperative shoulder joint score and satisfactory rate. Therefore arthroscopic Bankart repair is a good option for the treatment of recurrent anterior shoulder dislocation. All patients should be evaluated the risk factors of recurrence after the surgery to enduce the recurrence rate.
